A Workshop for South Australian Human Research Ethics Committee Members and Research Ethics Advisors

Overview

The Ethics Centre of South Australia (ECSA) is pleased to offer a short, intensive course on ethics and integrity in human research and research governance.  

 

This course aims to provide registrants with an understanding of: underlying themes in human research ethics; ethical considerations relating to different research approaches and populations; and issues related to research governance.  The program will be interactive in nature, including opportunities for small group discussion and debate.

 

Content

Topics include:

History & background of human research ethics

Themes in research ethics

Research governance

Ethical considerations in:

  • Research with vulnerable participants
  • Research with Indigenous peoples
  • Qualitative research
  • Clinical research
  • Laboratory research with human materials (including genetics)
  • Population studies (including privacy issues)

 

Target audience

This workshop is specifically for members of Human Research Ethics Committees and university staff working in a research ethics advisory role (or equivalent).
