Research Ethics

Members in the area of research ethics are drawn from a range of professional and disciplinary backgrounds.
Informal seminars are held every 4-6 weeks in which members present and discuss their own and other current research projects including:
  • Teaching methods for scientists, researchers, and research committee members
  • Ethics of research where the application has the potential for harmful as well as beneficial impact (e.g. genetic engineering, weapons research)
  • Participation of health professionals in the conduct of research
  • Ethics of research on sensitive topics or amongst minority communities
  • Ethical justification for research and potential for conflicts of interest
  • Use of animals in research
  • Issues in the evaluation of ethical standards in cross cultural research
